GÜNTHER HAUSCHILDT
In particular, the recent works combine the surreal and realistic elements to very credible pictures. The viewer might be inclined to have a careless glance of the pictures. “Very realistic“ he may think and it would not even be wrong. If there would not be these visual stumbling-blocks and the digressions into the surrealism in the works, they should slow down the superficial observer and make him look more precisely at the pictures. Only at second view it is possible to comprehend the strangeness of these visual worlds in which mysterious things are being combined with ingenious derision.
The pictures in which Hauschildt has assembled legendary film actors in strange combination also belong to this mostly ironic creative period. “Last Days of Napoleon“- Napoleon Bonaparte (Marlon Brando) is sitting on a chair on the street, and with him Hans Albers as Sherlock Holmes and Theo Lingen. On the opposite side a hospital - a nurse invites him to come in. Name of the hospital: St. Helena.
